Derbyshire Venues & Accommodation For Every Occasion

Don't Miss Out On Our Summer Savers

We've done our best this month to bring you the hottest offers and the coolest treats. Happy Summertime from Gainsborough Retreats!

Y-Not! We hear you say!

For one weekend a year, the gorgeous Peak District countryside becomes home to the Y Not Festival. Y Not is the Small, Fresh & Loud music festival, with a fantastic atmosphere and a history of amazing live acts. This year the 10th anniversary celebration is going to be amazing.

There has been steady, organic growth since it began life as a gathering of young people attending an overspilling house party in deepest, darkest, Derbyshirest, Derbyshire. But it does retain the carefree, good-time atmosphere of those original, dawning years.

The festival is still run by the same small team of passionate enthusiasts it was all those years ago (albeit a little older and a little wiser), but with the same ethos at heart – great people having a great time makes a great festival.

Stunning panoramic views of the countryside, a fully stocked bar of local ales and ciders, a mouth-watering selection of food and more live music than you could ever possibly take in.

All you need to provide is the memories (and a killer fancy dress outfit).

Keep As Cool As A Coconut

This is a deliciously light and refreshing drink with a whole host of valuable electrolytes like potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and sodium; perfect for rehydrating your skin and body on a hot summer’s day.

There’s a lot of research to suggest that much of today’s sweet drinks, often sweetened with high fructose corn syrup, are responsible for many modern health issues like obesity and diabetes. We also know that fructose has an oxidative effect on your body and that this is certainly not a good thing for your skin. You can add xylitol to sweeten this Coconut Cooler if you wish.

Personally I don’t feel it really needs it.

Throw the following ingredients in your Nutribullet or food blender and give it a very brief blast so your ice doesn’t just become mush.

6 regular size ice cubes from a standard freezer tray

400ml Pure Coconut Water (be sure to get a brand that is pure coconut water. Some of the top brands contain added fructose)

Juice from 1 lime – freshly squeezed

12 – 18 fresh mint leaves
