It has taken the Swan approximately three weeks to build the nest. After this the egg laying process begins with an egg being laid every 12-24 hours, this process can take 2-3 weeks in itself - wow!! The male takes turns protecting the nest while the female leaves the nest to feed.
The Swan has a long journey ahead, as apparently she will sit on the eggs for a period of nearly six weeks. The warmth from the parent swan makes sure that the chicks inside develop properly, a process called incubation. A special warm patch grows on the tummy of the parent bird to keep the eggs warm.
